In
November, 1987 the Friendship Centre purchased the Northern Inn
and Steakhouse, a 108 seat restaurant and 22 room hostel. This
business was sold on March 30, 1998.
In the
spring of 1990, the Friendship Centre acquired a two story
office building at 23 Station Road. The building is fully
occupied by an economic development agency.
On
July 15, 1996 the Friendship Centre purchased a building located
at 23 Beaver Crescent which houses New Beginnings - The
Connection for Aboriginal Children (Aboriginal Head Start)
Program.
On
December 1, 2000, the Ma-Mow-We-Tak Friendship Centre also
purchased another building located at 4 Nelson Road to house the
youth projects in an endeavour to create a “one-stop-shop”
concept for youth.
As
with any investment, the Friendship Centre does not expect to
see a return on its investments for a number of years, however,
these business ventures have enabled the Friendship Centre to
become one step closer towards their goal of self-sufficiency.
