Northern Youth Councils Project
The primary focus of this project is to reduce
adolescent pregnancy in Northern Manitoba by providing alternative activities
for the youth. This project is youth driven and attendance has been very good
with many youth being committed in their involvement with the project.
Activities range from youth socials, wilderness weekends, movie nights, gym
nights, various workshops selected by the youth, guest speakers, etc. This
project has an active Youth Council in Thompson and has been assisting other
northern communities with establishing their own Youth Councils. For further
information please contact the Northern Youth Council Coordinator at 677-0988.

of employment readiness workshops, resume preparation, interview preparation,
job search techniques, Manitoba labour laws, labour market information, etc.
Additional supports are provided to youth to ensure that any issues or barriers
they have that prevent them from achieving employment, training and education
goals are addressed. If additional counseling is required, a referral is made.
In addition, individual employment/education counseling, various workshops,
community presentations, etc. are conducted. For further information, please
contact the Youth Employment Counsellor at 677-0987.

Street Involved Youth Outreach Program
This program will enhance community
resources in addressing the needs of itinerant and residing street involved
youth by providing a staff person who can engage, support and refer youth to
appropriate agency services and programs to address their alcohol and drug
issues, housing, physical, social and economic stressors. Promote relationship
building with each youth as they must be engaged and trusting before any
significant change will be made. For further information please contact the
Street Involved Youth Outreach Worker at 677-0989.
